- Go for a weekend vacation right here. We live in a vacation Mecca. When was that last time you enjoyed it? book a couple nights in the mountains and relax, you deserve it!
- Eat fresh fish. Essential Fatty Acids are, well, essential. Many of our local fish are loaded with them. Unfortunately, due to the way most store bought meat is raised it has little or
no EFA’s. Eating fish with smaller mouths, and lifespans reduce any risk of mercury. Mackerel, dolphin and tuna are good choices.
- Raise your heartbeat. Find something you like to do that gets your heart rate up and do it 3 times a week. I play volleyball, surf, play frisbee and walk our dog. Don’t call it exercise.
- Enjoy a massage. Whether you come to Yadkinville Chiropractic for massage or prefer the (nearby very expensive) Spa, treat yourself to a good massage every now and then.
- Vote. In the last local election in Yadkinvilel, 12% of the registered voters showed up to vote.
Start paying attention to what goes on in your local politics. Local officials likely have more impact on your daily life than the folks over in Washington.
- Say no to drugs.
Avoid medicating for everything. Discuss your medicine regimen with your doctor and see what can be reduced or eliminated. Your liver will thank you. An alarming majority of my healthy, happy 90+ year old patients take no drugs at all.
- Be Nice. Try to do something nice for your loved ones every day. Be nice to people at the store. Tip well for good service. When driving, let people in. It feels good.
- Stop Smoking. You can’t stop unless you really want to, but no habit leads to more illness in the US than cigarette smoking. And if you decide to smoke, please don’t use the world as your ashtray.
- Volunteer. Even if it is for just one day/event each year. You will find yourself looking forward to it even more than if you were just a spectator.
Volunteering is uniquely american, it’s part of what makes us great.
- Challenge your Brain. Do crossword or sudoku puzzles, or take a class to learn a new craft. Keep those neurons firing.
